[Dr. Alfonso María Thévenot. I. From France to Chile]

Dr. Thévenot, a French surgeon was hired by the School of Medicine to replace Dr. Lorenzo Sazié, the first Dean of the University of Chile's School of Medicine. He was supported by French professors Chaissaignac, Monneret, Jarjavay, Maissomeuve and Trousseau. He remained in Chile from 1867 to 1873.
