Are intravertebral vacuum phenomena benign lesions?

Intravertebral vacuum phenomena are common in osteoporotic vertebral collapse but rare in spinal infections or metastasis. This finding helps differentiate benign fractures from serious spinal conditions.

- The occurrence rate of IVP was 18.9% in osteoporotic vertebral collapse, 6.4% in multiple myeloma, and very rare (1 case) in spinal infection.
- IVP was not observed in patients with spinal metastasis.
