Summary

This pilot study shows a new variable-view rigid endoscope offers excellent optical performance and handling for gynecologic laparoscopic surgery. Surgeons reported satisfaction with its angulation, improving visualization without repositioning the instrument.

Background:

A novel variable-view rigid endoscope with 0-120° angulation was developed.
This technology aims to enhance visualization in laparoscopic procedures.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the optical performance and clinical handling of the new variable-view rigid endoscope.
To assess its utility in advanced gynecologic laparoscopic surgery.

Main Methods:

Experienced surgeons and assistants evaluated the endoscope during 21 advanced gynecologic laparoscopic procedures.
Post-procedure questionnaires assessed ease of handling and optical quality.

Main Results:

Surgeons and assistants reported high satisfaction with the endoscope's mechanical handling and visual capabilities.
The variable viewing angle allowed visualization of the surgical site without repositioning the endoscope shaft.

Conclusions:

The variable-view rigid endoscope demonstrated effective performance in advanced gynecologic procedures.
It facilitates the use of visual ports during primary port entry and improves surgical vision.
Further research is needed to assess its role in routine laparoscopic surgery.
