Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has improved survival for HIV-infected individuals, but cardiovascular disease (CVD) is now a significant concern. While HAART can mitigate some HIV-related CVD risks, certain antiretroviral drugs may increase them; routine screening is recommended.
