Magnetic-resonance-imaging of bone-marrow in lymphoma
Abstract:
Magnetic resonance imaging provides a non-invasive method of obtaining high resolution images of the bone marrow. The signal obtained is dependent on bone marrow cellularity and the proportions of haemopoietic tissue, fat, tumour and fibrous tissue present. MRI is a sensitive method of detecting bone marrow involvement in Hodgkin's disease and high grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and provides a complimentary tool to conventional bone marrow trephine biopsy in assessing bone marrow involvement.
