Abstract:
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and magnetic seizure therapy (MST) represent new and promising avenues for treating mild and severe treatment-resistant depression, respectively. A further understanding of these modalities and the contribution of psychiatric nurses in the emerging field of brain stimulation would be of great use to the nursing community. This article serves as a primer for those who are interested in participating in or referring patients for research or treatment with rTMS or MST.
