Abstract:
Abdominal pain in child could be related to surgical pathologies in 10 to 20 % of cases. The more frequent etiology remains appendicitis. Regarding to clinical presentation, age and medical history, intestinal intussusception, incarcerated hernia, adhesive occlusion and Meckel's diverticulum could be evocated. But the most dreadful diagnosis is malrotation with volvulus, because of mortality and morbidities induced by bowel necrosis. Usually, medical history and clinical exam allowed diagnosis. Ultrasound remains the more helpful exam in children with surgical pathologies and in some selected cases, CT scan and others biological and/or radiological exams could be performed.
