  • A case of a giant fibrovascular polyp in the hypopharynx of a 46-year-old man is presented.
  • These lesions are often asymptomatic and detected incidentally during endoscopy.
  • However, significant growth can lead to digestive or respiratory complications.

Findings:

  • Histologically, these polyps are characterized by a mix of fibrous and lipomatous tissue with rich vascularization.
  • The surface is covered by normal squamous epithelium.
  • Polyp formation is attributed to a lack of muscular support and pressure dynamics during esophageal peristalsis.
