In Alzheimer disease, higher levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were linked to sickness behavior symptoms, even without delirium. This suggests inflammation plays a key role in these non-delirious neuropsychiatric changes.
