Fibromyalgia patients exhibit disrupted sleep patterns, including more superficial sleep and increased periodic leg movements. These sleep disturbances may contribute to the development of fibromyalgia syndrome.

- Elevated periodic leg movements in FMS patients may play a pathogenic role in the illness.
- Further research is warranted to explore the implications of these sleep alterations in fibromyalgia pathogenesis.
