Abstract:
Cancer of the lung is a medical and nursing challenge. Conventional treatment of lung cancer has resulted in such limited success that other treatment modalities are being investigated. Newer strategies and experimental studies have impacted on the nursing care required of these patients. Advances in oncology nursing are evident in the successful outpatient care of lung cancer patients receiving treatment, the preparation of patients for and the management of problems related to new treatment regimens, and the expansion of acute oncology nursing care for the home-bound patient.
