Summary
Elevated serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels are associated with schizophrenia. While antipsychotic treatment did not significantly alter IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), or transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) levels, IL-6 showed a trend toward normalization.
