Spherical and Cylindrical Capacitor01:26

Spherical and Cylindrical Capacitor

A spherical capacitor consists of two concentric conducting spherical shells of radii R1 (inner shell) and R2 (outer shell). The shells have equal and opposite charges of +Q and −Q, respectively. For an isolated conducting spherical capacitor, the radius of the outer shell can be considered to be infinite.
Conventionally, considering the symmetry, the electric field between the concentric shells of a spherical capacitor is directed radially outward. The magnitude of the field, calculated by...

Area of Science:

  • Remote Sensing
  • Earth Observation

Background:

  • Tasseled cap transformation is a widely used technique for analyzing remote sensing data across various disciplines.
  • Existing coefficients may not be optimal for newer sensors like CBERS-02B.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To derive and present tasseled cap transformation coefficients specifically for CBERS-02B charge-coupled device (CCD) data.
  • To facilitate improved analysis of land cover and biophysical parameters using CBERS-02B imagery.

Main Methods:

  • Application of tasseled cap transformation to CBERS-02B sensor data.
  • Calculation of transformation coefficients for the first three principal components.

Main Results:

  • The first three tasseled cap components captured 98% of the four-band variance.
  • Derived coefficients represent brightness, greenness, and blueness characteristics.
  • Specific coefficients for brightness (0.509, 0.431, 0.330, 0.668), greenness (-0.494, -0.318, -0.324, 0.741), and blueness (0.581, -0.070, -0.811, 0.003) were determined.

Conclusions:

  • The derived tasseled cap coefficients are suitable for CBERS-02B data.
  • These coefficients will enhance the application of CBERS-02B data in agriculture, forest, ecology, and landscape studies.
