Abstract:
With the release of The Joint Commission's Sentinel Event Alert, Issue 45: Preventing Violence in the Healthcare Setting" in June, 2010, the existence of such violence and the need to provide more effective workplace violence education was officially recognized by the industry's certifying authority. In this article, the author describes a seven-step prevention methodology that has been put in place in his health system.
