Polyester composite versus PTFE in laparoscopic ventral hernia repair.

Background:

• Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair frequently utilizes polyester composite (POC) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) mesh.

Purpose of the Study:

• To compare the perioperative and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic ventral hernia repair using PTFE versus POC mesh.
• To evaluate differences in complication rates, hernia recurrence, and patient-reported discomfort between the two mesh types.

• A retrospective analysis of 116 patients undergoing laparoscopic ventral hernia repair between 2004-2009.
