Background:

Laparoscopic surgery offers advantages over open surgery for colon procedures.
Hand-assisted laparoscopic colectomy (HALC) and laparoscopic-assisted colectomy (LAC) are effective for colon cancer.
Direct comparison of HALC and LAC for oncologic outcomes is needed.

Purpose of the Study:

To compare the oncologic outcomes of HALC and LAC in colon cancer treatment.
To evaluate differences in lymph node retrieval, margins, operative time, and complications between HALC and LAC.

A five-year retrospective study at a community teaching hospital.
Comparison of 50 HALC cases with 23 LAC cases.
