Summary

Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy is a safe and effective procedure for completely intrarenal tumors. Intraoperative ultrasound and surgical experience are key to successful tumor excision and renal repair.

Technical Modification of the Terminal Ureter During Total Transperitoneal Laparoscopic Nephroureterectomy for Upper Urinary Tract Urothelial Carcinoma

Main Results:

  • No positive surgical margins were observed in the studied cases.
  • Complications, positive margin rates, blood loss, and warm ischemia times were comparable to other tumor groups (exophytic, sinus fat infiltrating).
  • Mean tumor size was 2.3 cm, mean blood loss 236 cc, and mean warm ischemia time 29.9 minutes.

Conclusions:

  • Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy for completely intrarenal tumors is technically demanding but safe and effective.
  • Successful outcomes depend on surgical expertise, effective use of intracorporeal ultrasound, and adherence to surgical principles.
