Summary

This case study details a rare idiopathic acquired supraglottic web in an elderly man. The laryngeal web recurred multiple times after initial treatment with dilation and CO2 laser excision.

  • The patient underwent management involving dilation and unilateral carbon dioxide (CO2) laser excision.

  • The supraglottic web recurred three times post-excision.
  • The web was managed via repeat dilation and laser excision twice, and conservatively once.
  • This represents the first reported instance of a truly idiopathic acquired laryngeal web.

Implications:
