Insights
This case report details rare colobronchial and gastrocolic fistulas in Crohn's disease. Computed tomography (CT) imaging was crucial in identifying the colobronchial fistula.
Area of Science:
- Gastroenterology
- Thoracic Surgery
- Radiology
Background:
- Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
- Gastrointestinal fistulas are uncommon complications of Crohn's disease.
- Colobronchial and gastrocolic fistulas are exceptionally rare manifestations.
Abstract:
A rare case of colobronchial and gastrocolic fistulas originating from the splenic flexure in a patient with Crohn's disease is presented. A computed tomographic (CT) examination of the chest first suggested the presence of the colobronchial fistula.
