Speckle tracking imaging (STI) can predict adverse left ventricular (LV) remodeling after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Global longitudinal strain (Ls) measured by STI is an independent predictor of LV remodeling, aiding in risk stratification.

Main Results:

  • 34.1% of patients developed LV remodeling at 4 months.
  • Reduced global systolic Ls at baseline was significantly associated with LV remodeling.
  • Systolic Ls was identified as an independent predictor of LV remodeling (cutoff -11.6%, 78% sensitivity, 73% specificity).

Conclusions:

  • LV longitudinal strain assessed by STI is a valuable and independent predictor of LV remodeling post-AMI.
  • STI offers a feasible method for risk stratification in AMI patients.
