Background:

Observation:

  • An 85-year-old female patient presented with a complete open dislocation of the navicular bone.
  • The injury involved significant displacement and soft tissue compromise.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent successful surgical management via open reduction.
  • Arthrodesis of the naviculocuneiform and calcaneocuboid joints was performed to stabilize the foot.
  • At two-year follow-up, the patient was asymptomatic with restored foot function.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the efficacy of surgical intervention for rare foot dislocations.
  • Open reduction and arthrodesis can provide excellent functional outcomes in elderly patients with severe foot trauma.
  • Successful management of such injuries is crucial for patient mobility and quality of life.
