BMI bridges genomics, personalized medicine, and global healthcare.
International research in BMI raises questions about global contribution documentation.

Purpose of the Study:

Analyze worldwide participation of BMI researchers in major scientific conferences.
Focus on geographical affiliation, conference impact, and recognition.
Compare participation across regional and global scope conferences.

Main Methods:

Manually collected author data from Medinfo, MIE, and AMIA (MI) conferences.
Collected data from ISMB (BI) conference for comparison.
Analyzed conference impact and recognition within scientific contexts.

Main Results:

Regional conferences (AMIA, MIE) showed predominantly local author participation.
Global scope conferences (Medinfo, ISMB) had broader geographical representation.
Conference influence beyond the BMI discipline was limited.

Conclusions:

BMI needs broader geographical and scientific collaboration.
Extending interdisciplinary impacts worldwide is crucial for discipline recognition.
Current conference participation suggests a need for enhanced global engagement.
