  • To compare the prevalence of problematic substance use, delinquency, and gambling severity among adolescent Internet gamblers versus non-Internet gamblers.
  • To investigate the moderating effect of gambling categories on the association between associated problems and gambling severity.

  • A cross-sectional study involving 1,870 Quebec students aged 14 to 18.
  • Data collection on Internet gambling, substance use, delinquent behavior, and gambling severity.

  • Internet gambling among adolescents is associated with increased risks for substance use, delinquency, and severe gambling problems.
  • The findings support the general deviance syndrome theory, suggesting interconnectedness between various risk behaviors in adolescents.
  • Interventions targeting adolescent Internet gambling should consider the interplay of substance use and delinquency.
