This study establishes quality standards for Danmo capsule using Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The validated methods ensure accurate quality control for this important herbal medicinal product.
Area of Science:
- Pharmacognosy
- Analytical Chemistry
- Herbal Medicine Quality Control
Background:
- Danmo capsule is a traditional herbal medicine requiring standardized quality control.
- Ensuring the quality of herbal products is crucial for patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.
Purpose of the Study:
- To establish a quality standard for Danmo capsule.
- To develop and validate analytical methods for its quality assessment.
Main Methods:
- Qualitative identification of Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix Et Rhizoma and Lonicerae Japonicae Flos using Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC).
- Quantitative determination of Salvianolic acid B content using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
Main Results:
- TLC analysis demonstrated clear and well-separated spots, indicating reliable qualitative identification.
- HPLC analysis showed a linear range for Salvianolic acid B from 0.120042 - 2.40084 µg (r = 0.9999), with an average recovery of 103.63% and a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 0.6%.
Conclusions:
- The developed analytical methods are simple, accurate, and reliable.
- These validated methods are suitable for the routine quality control of Danmo capsule.
