Background:

Relationship-oriented cultures, prevalent in Greater China, significantly influence organizational dynamics more than in Western cultures.
Cultural emphasis on relationships impacts organizational structure and interpersonal interactions.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the influence of relationships on safety management within relationship-oriented cultures.
To examine how organizational factors in these cultures affect safety practices at group and individual levels.

Main Methods:

A safety climate questionnaire was administered to employees in Taiwanese high-risk industries.
Structural equation modeling was employed to analyze the hypothesized relationships.

Main Results:

Organizational factors (management involvement, harmonious relationships) positively influenced supervisory work, reporting systems, and teamwork.
These group-level factors, in turn, positively affected individual risk awareness and safety practices, reducing complacency.

Conclusions:

Findings support the hypothesis that relationship-oriented cultural factors significantly shape safety management outcomes.
Implications suggest tailored safety improvement strategies are needed for countries with similar cultural contexts.
