Parkinson's disease tremor pathophysiology differs between subtypes. In akinetic-rigid patients, the subthalamic nucleus influences muscle tremor. In tremor-dominant patients, muscle activity influences the subthalamic nucleus, suggesting distinct disease mechanisms.
