  • An animated e-learning package on basic immunology was provided to second-year medical students.
  • Student engagement (log-on time) was tracked and correlated with their performance on integrated examination questions.
  • Student satisfaction was measured via a dedicated questionnaire.

Main Results:

  • Each hour spent on the e-learning package correlated with a 3.6% improvement in immunology exam scores for intermediate-range students.
  • E-learning usage explained 17% of the variance in immunology scores among this group.
  • No significant impact on examination outcomes was observed for the highest or lowest-performing students.

Conclusions:

  • Supplementing regular immunology teaching with an e-learning package enhances learning outcomes for intermediate-achieving medical students.
  • The e-learning resource was positively received by the student cohort.
