Summary

Outer retinal layer continuity on OCT scans did not predict visual acuity outcomes in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) receiving ranibizumab injections. This finding suggests other factors may influence treatment success in AMD.

    • Visual acuity improved in 46.0%, remained stable in 28.7%, and decreased in 25.3% of patients post-treatment.

    Conclusions:

    • The continuity of outer retinal layers, as visualized by OCT, was not a significant predictor of visual acuity outcomes in this cohort of AMD patients treated with ranibizumab.
    • Further research is needed to identify reliable predictive factors for ranibizumab therapy response in age-related macular degeneration.
