  • A cohort of 30 patients with Class II (DG-II) and 35 with Class III (DG-III) dentofacial deformities were assessed.
  • A control group (CG) of 30 healthy volunteers with normal occlusion and no temporomandibular joint dysfunction was included.
  • Masticatory efficiency was quantified using a colorimetric bead system, with participants chewing 4 beads sequentially over 20 seconds each.

Main Results:

  • Masticatory efficiency was significantly lower in both the Class II and Class III dentofacial deformity groups compared to the control group (P<0.05).
  • No statistically significant difference in masticatory efficiency was found between the Class II and Class III dentofacial deformity groups (P>0.05).
