Area of Science:

  • Oncology
  • Pathology
  • Immunology

Background:

  • Interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS) is an exceptionally rare neoplasm originating from antigen-presenting cells.
  • IDCS typically presents as a solitary lymph node involvement and can exhibit aggressive behavior in approximately one-third of cases.

Observation:

  • A case report of an 87-year-old woman presenting with a right nasal mass is described.
  • The patient underwent surgical resection, including a wide local excision and right functional lymphadenectomy.

Findings:

  • Histopathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular analyses confirmed the diagnosis of IDCS.
  • The tumor was identified as an extranodal manifestation of IDCS.

Implications:
