Bortezomib and bilateral herpes zoster

Summary

Bortezomib treatment for multiple myeloma may increase the risk of varicella zoster virus (VZV) reactivation. Antiviral prophylaxis with acyclovir is recommended for patients undergoing bortezomib therapy to prevent herpes zoster.
