Published on: April 21, 2023
Abstract:
After learning that the Lubbock City Council proposed outsourcing surveillance, sexually transmitted disease (STD), and immunization services from the Lubbock Health Department, many Lubbock physicians and other health professionals, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center medical students, residents, and medical society alliance members rallied to advocate that public health services remain under one roof in the health department. Their efforts paid off when a Lubbock Board of Health subcommittee unanimously passed a resolution recommending the STD and immunization services remain under the health department's full control.
