    Bipolar and unipolar depression patients exhibit more fragmented rapid eye movement (REM) sleep periods compared to controls. Bipolar patients showed greater REM sleep fragmentation than unipolar patients, indicating distinct sleep architecture differences in mood disorders.

    • To compare total night sleep and REM sleep architecture between normal controls, unipolar depression patients, and bipolar depression patients.
