Abstract:
A singer can use a given anatomical structure of his/her nasal and pharyngobuccal pavilion to regulate the flow of his/her phonatory breath. The resultant study of vocal techniques makes it possible to put forth such concepts as a "column of air" and a "breath support point". The corporal sensations felt by vocalists were surveyed as well as the acoustic qualities of the vocal emission of each type. Implications are suggested for voice therapists.
