- A three-stage surgical approach involving two thoracotomies and one laparotomy was performed.
Findings:
- The surgical intervention successfully managed the complex hydatid disease.
- Postoperative recovery was uneventful.
- Complete resolution of symptoms and no recurrence were observed at a 2-year follow-up.
Implications:
- Patients with either pulmonary or hepatic hydatid cysts should be screened for additional cysts.
- Simultaneous surgical treatment of multiple hydatid cysts is feasible in select patients.
- A staged surgical approach may be necessary for complex cases with complications like bronchial fistulas.
