Background:

Traditional psychiatric nursing education often lacks emphasis on critical reflective practices.
Lifelong learning is crucial for evolving healthcare professionals.
Distance-accessible programs require innovative pedagogical approaches.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and evaluate a reflective curriculum for a distance-accessible graduate psychiatric nursing program.
To integrate reflective practices with traditional teaching methods.
To foster critical reflection and lifelong learning in nursing students.

Main Methods:

Theoretical underpinnings from educational theorists (Dewey, Kolb, Schön) were applied.
Traditional methods (case studies, mini-lectures) were combined with reflection principles.
Specific strategies for incorporating reflection were developed and described.

Main Results:

The curriculum successfully merged traditional and reflective approaches.
Students engage in building knowledge and skills through reflective practice.
