Dendritic eIF4E-binding protein 1 (eIF4E-BP1) mRNA is upregulated by neuronal activation

The study found that eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E)-binding protein 1 (4EBP1) mRNA is present in dendrites of rat hippocampal neurons. Neuronal activation increases this dendritic mRNA, suggesting a role in local protein synthesis for synaptic plasticity.
