[Duplex examination of the carotid artery]

Duplex sonography is an accurate and non-invasive method of detecting carotid arterial disease. It has a good sensitivity and specificity for detection of stenosis and ulcerations. It is preferred as the primary investigation when atherosclerotic disease of the carotid artery is suspected. The method is reviewed briefly and the results of eight months use referred.
