Development of knowledge in basic sciences: a comparison of two medical curricula

Medical students in traditional and problem-based learning curricula show similar knowledge development. While traditional curriculum students initially lag, they surpass problem-based learning students later, with no overall significant difference in basic science knowledge retention.
