Background:

Chronic periodontitis (CP) involves gingival inflammation and can lead to endothelial dysfunction.
Understanding systemic health implications of CP is crucial.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the association between chronic periodontitis (CP) and erectile dysfunction (ED).

Main Methods:

80 male patients with ED and 82 controls (30-40 years) were assessed.
International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) used for ED diagnosis.
Periodontal parameters (PI, BoP, PD, CAL) compared between groups.

Main Results:

53% of ED patients had severe CP, versus 23% in controls.
Severe CP significantly associated with ED (OR: 3.29, P < 0.01).
Higher PI, BoP, and sites with PD/CAL >4 mm in ED group.

Conclusions:

Chronic periodontitis is highly associated with erectile dysfunction in young adults (30-40 years).
Periodontal disease should be considered a potential contributing factor to ED in affected patients.
