Summary

Beta-sitosterol, a plant sterol, was well-tolerated in rats during chronic subcutaneous administration. This study suggests beta-sitosterol has an intrinsic cholesterol-lowering effect, significantly reducing serum cholesterol levels in a dose-dependent manner.
