Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore the relationship between urinary Bisphenol A (BPA) levels and thyroid function parameters.
  • To assess potential associations in a population-based cohort in Shanghai, China.

Main Methods:

  • A population-based study included 3394 adults aged 40 years and older in Shanghai, China.
  • Urinary BPA levels were analyzed in relation to thyroid function markers using multivariate linear regression.
  • Logistic regression was employed to examine associations stratified by thyroid function status.

Main Results:

  • Increased urinary BPA levels correlated with elevated free triiodothyronine and decreased thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in both men and women.
