Abstract:
Severe Class II division 2 is a difficult malocclusion to treat properly, especially when lower incisors contact palatal mucosa. Only fixed appliance therapy can achieve worthwhile and lasting improvement of the incisor relationship in this situation. In less severe cases, it may be possible to achieve limited objectives using removable appliances. When planning treatment, extraction of mandibular premolars should be avoided if at all possible.
