Individuals with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSDs) misperceive facial emotions, particularly anger, due to magnocellular pathway dysfunction. A red background exacerbated these errors in SSDs, unlike controls, suggesting a visual pathway link to social cognition deficits.
