Summary

Partial splenectomy using radiofrequency (RF) Habib® needles is a safe and effective spleen-preserving procedure. This technique reduces the risk of overwhelming postsplenectomy infection, a serious complication of total splenectomy.

Main Results:

  • All seven partial splenectomy procedures were successfully and safely completed.
  • RF application with Habib® needles achieved primary hemostasis with minimal blood loss (<50 ml).
  • No infections or adverse events related to the partial splenectomy occurred during the minimum 1-year follow-up.

Conclusions:

  • Partial splenectomy with Habib® needles is a safe and easily performed procedure.
  • Radiofrequency resection offers a viable alternative to total splenectomy, reducing infection risks.
