Ovariectomy in rats caused significant changes in tibial articular cartilage, particularly the superficial layer. However, regular aerobic exercise appeared to mitigate these estrogen-deficiency-induced effects.

- Volume density of collagen fibers increased in ovariectomized groups, with higher values in the trained group compared to the sedentary group.

- Estrogen deficiency due to ovariectomy significantly alters tibial cartilage structure, especially the superficial layer.
- Aerobic physical exercise demonstrated a protective effect, partially alleviating the negative impacts of estrogen deficiency on articular cartilage.
