[Clinical examination of the traumatized shoulder]

In emergencies clinical examination and straight radiography are enough to make a diagnosis and indicate the kind of treatment required. When radiography gives normal results, slight and brief immobilization prevents the occurrence of retractile capsulitis. A second clinical examination, performed a fortnight later, provides a better evaluation of the severity of soft tissue lesions.
