Proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-responsive oesophageal eosinophilia may be a distinct phenotype of eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE). PPIs may benefit EoE patients through anti-inflammatory effects, independent of acid suppression, warranting further investigation.
