• To describe the function, roles, formation, organization, structure, membership, and benefits of immunization advisory committees in state immunization programs.

• An online survey was conducted in 2011 by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
• The survey targeted immunization program managers to identify states with advisory committees and understand their functions and perceived benefits.
