[Dermatoplasty of a cavity in the calcaneus]

A total of 12 patients with chronic traumatologic and hematogenic osteomyelitis of calcaneus were subjected to radical removal of the pathological focus, followed by cutaneo-dermofascial plasty of the residual cavity. The analysis of this complex treatment showed that such a method allowed to yield hopeful results. Till the age of 7 rather safe supporting surface with heel function preservation was being formed in the heel area. Under mechanical load skin grafts didn't turn into the scar tissue and were not ulcerated. Favourable outcomes of the offered method of plasty indicate the possibility of its wide use both in surgical and traumatological practice.
